Victory for Mount Hood




The US Senate finally pushed a bill that will allow the expansion of the Mount Hood Wilderness. 127,000 Acres of National Forest will now be added to the Mount Hood Wilderness as well as 90 miles of rivers becoming part of the Wild and Scenic River System. This new development and the removal of Powerdale Dam on the Hood River in 2010 will aide in the protection of six Endangered Species Act-listed fish runs. That actually was the US Senate - not Oregon's. Besides that fact that it is Federal land, you can't count on the the state legislature to actually accomplish anything meaningful...
